NARIT meets UNESCO

The Ambassador of Thailand to France – as the Permanent Delegate of Thailand to UNESCO – leads Team Thailand including the Deputy Permanent Delegate of Thailand to UNESCO, NARIT Executive Director and NARIT Foreign Affairs Team to pay the courtesy call to UNESCO Deputy Director-General and UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences to discuss and strengthen the ongoing collaborations of the International Training Centre in Astronomy under the auspices of UNESCO, a UNESCO Category II Centre in which NARIT is hosting.

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) – NARIT, Ministry of Science and Technology wins an ‘Outstanding Organization in Science and Technology Award’ from Thailand Toray Science Foundation at its 25th Presentation Ceremony of the year 2018 in the ‘Organization’ category. Given NARIT’s outstanding research and development in Thailand’s astronomy, which reflect our commitment to further develop research works, high-technology astronomy, educational transfer, public outreach and ultimately to create the awareness of astronomical enthusiasm in Thai society – using astronomy as a challenge for human capacity and technology development in the long run.

Krabi commenced an advanced platform of The 7th International VLBI Technology Workshop (IVTW2018), which gathered 40 specialists, scientists and astronomers working in the field of the Very Long Baseline Interferometer (VLBI) worldwide to brainstorm their genius works into an integrated solid work plan. In order to enhance international cooperation towards Thai VLBI Network (TVN) and the National Network for Radio Astronomy and Geodesy (NNRAG).

Rizal Technological University opened its doors to welcome Team NARIT to the Philippines to co-organize the first Astronomy & Astrophysics: Data Research Analytics Workshop during 15 – 16 August 2018 at the 10th Floor of the Senator Neptali A. Gonzales Academic Hall. The conference was attended by students and faculty members from Mapua University, New Era University, RizalTech, and by astronomers from the Astronomical League of the Philippines.

The annual “Optical Design Summer School” resumed for the third time in 2018 during 5 – 10 August with 25 international attendants worldwide. This year, once again, the school was organized by the International Training Centre in Astronomy under the auspices of UNESCO (ITCA), the Centre hosted by the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) in the heart of Chiang Mai. Prof. Theirry Lepine from Institutd’Optique Graduate School also returned to give lectures in the school.
