In this key science, NARIT is covering a wide range of subjects with highlights on three key topics, namely Variable Stars, Pulsars, and Star Forming Region (SFR) and MASERs. It aims to bring forward our knowledge in these topics based on the available workforce and facilities at present, as well as in the future. The Variable Star sub-topic deals with several types of stars at different evolutionary stages in the Milky Way and nearby galaxies. We are working with observational and theoretical point of views using various ground-based and space-based observatories and population synthesis study. In the sub-topics of Pulsars, SFR, and MASERs, we are combining two different approaches using the optical and radio facilities to get a comprehensive understanding of these subjects.

Stellar populations & evolution
- Properties of binaries, variable stars, multiple stellar systems and globular clusters
- Resolved stellar properties to understand the evolution & formation history of the host systems.
- Classification of astronomical objects using machine learning
Astrochemistry
- Laboratory development for astrochemistry research.
- Laboratory study and computational simulations of the formation of complex molecules in interstellar clouds (grain-surface reactions)
